| MAGIC MEADOW TOUCAN HAT PATTERN |

| Below is a toucan hat example for party hats to go with activities described in Kandu and the Magic Meadow book. Every hat is different, designed and colored or painted by the child who will wear it and take it home. Approximate size is 14 inches long (top of head to tip of bill) and 10 inches wide at widest point for children four to six years old. Use dimensions 16 inches long and 12 inches wide for older children. The bill takes shape when the hat is tied under the chin. |
**************************************************************************************************************************** Hats are made with heavy paper that will support the bill (visor). Use poster board if coloring with markers, or rough-textured 90-lb. watercolor paper if children will be painting. Holes are punched and ribbon is strung through to tie under chinny-chin-chins. Very individual and creative, and a fun project for the party. Useful, too, for costumes for the activities in Kandu and the Magic Meadow. ***To keep hat from slipping on the head, glue a small section of non-slip rubberized material (like drawer lining material) where the hat rests on top of the head Or Paint rubber cement on the underside of the hat in the center, between the two holes, just where the hat touches the top of the head and let it dry thoroughly. MAKE SURE THE RUBBER CEMENT IS THOROUGHLY DRY, OF COURSE, BEFORE WEARING THE HAT!!!!!
